How to Use Putty Buddies Silicone Ear Plugs
- Do not force into ear canal.
- Handle with clean, dry hands. Remove any sunscreen, tanning oils, or lotions before handling.
- Adults should place ear plugs over clean, dry ear canals. Never allow a child to do this alone.
- Flatten plug with fingers and shape to cover the outer ear until snugly fit.
- Do not tear plugs. Use one full plug per ear. Discard if plug separates, cracks, or cannot be remolded.
- To remove, press up under the backside of the ear, then pull down on the earlobe. Alternate several times for easy release.
- Discard after 2 weeks, or if dirty, cracked, or losing tackiness.
- If any material remains in the ear canal, do not attempt to remove it yourself. Visit an ENT specialist for proper removal.
- If silicone adheres to skin or hair, remove using mineral oil or another natural oil-based product (not water).
- For water use only. Remove ear plugs if out of the water for more than 5 minutes. Reapply or use a fresh pair when swimming again.
Putty Buddies silicone ear plugs are reusable and should be stored in the carrying case. Discard when dirty or no longer tacky. Recommended by doctors for swimming, showering, and general water protection. Not for diving deeper than 10 feet. Although not intended for noise prevention, a slight hearing reduction may occur. For best results, use with the Ear Band-It headband.
Helpful Tips
- Only handle silicone with clean, dry hands. Avoid oils, lotions, or dirty surfaces.
- Ensure ears are clean, dry, and free from wax or oils before use.
- Discard plugs with cracks or folds.
- Flatten plug into a disk, place over the ear canal, and press gently outward to “lock” in place.
- To remove, hold the earlobe and gently move up and down. Parents should inspect children’s ears after each use.
- Store removed plugs in their covered plastic container.
CAUTION: Only cover the ear opening—do not insert into the ear canal. Silicone ear plugs are safe when used as directed. Keep away from infants. Although non-toxic, they may interfere with breathing if swallowed. Avoid thinning plugs or contact with hair and oil-based lotions.
If a plug is pushed into the ear canal, do not try to remove it yourself. Do not use tweezers, cotton swabs, or other objects—see an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) physician for safe removal. A short time in the canal is usually harmless if untouched.
