How to Use Putty Buddies Silicone Ear Plugs
- Do not force into ear canal.
- Handle with clean, dry hands—avoid sunscreen, oils, or lotions before handling.
- Adults should place ear plugs over clean, dry ear canals. Children should be assisted.
- Flatten the plug with fingers and shape to cover the outer ear until snug.
- Do not tear plugs. Use one full plug per ear. Discard if cracked, separated, or unable to remold.
- To remove, press up under the backside of the ear, then pull down on the earlobe several times.
- Discard after two weeks, or when dirty, cracked, or losing tackiness.
- If material remains in the ear canal, do not remove it yourself. Visit an ENT specialist.
- Silicone is water repellent—use mineral or natural oils to remove from skin or hair if necessary.
- For water use only. Remove if out of water for 5+ minutes and reapply when swimming again.
Putty Buddies silicone ear plugs are reusable and should be stored in their case. Discard when dirty or no longer tacky. Recommended by doctors for swimming, showering, and general water protection (not for depths greater than 10 feet). Though not designed for noise reduction, a slight hearing decrease may occur. For optimal protection, use with the Ear Band-It headband.
Helpful Tips
- Handle with clean, dry hands—avoid oils, lotions, or hair contact.
- Ensure ear is clean, dry, and wax-free before use.
- Check plugs for cracks or folds; discard damaged pairs.
- Flatten plug into a disk, place over ear canal, and press gently outward to seal.
- To remove, move the earlobe up and down to release the plug as one piece. Parents should inspect children’s ears after use.
- Store ear plugs in their covered plastic container after each use.
CAUTION: Only cover the ear opening—do not insert into the ear canal. Silicone ear plugs are safe when used correctly. Keep away from infants. Though non-toxic, they may interfere with breathing if swallowed. Avoid thinning plugs or contact with hair and oil-based lotions.
If a plug enters the ear canal, do not attempt removal yourself. Do not use tweezers or swabs. See an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) physician for safe removal. Short-term presence is harmless if untouched.
